Woodland Shade Gardening

Woodland shade gardening with a purpose – pleasure, creativity, rainwater collection!

FIRST TEST ! ! !

We finally got rain!  So this is the first time I have been able to check the rainwater routing of the new trough into the backside of the Wisteria Bed, and the clay berm out from the backside of the Wisteria Bed.  The lake on the backside of the Wisteria Bed filled up after the trough into the bed filled the newly dug basin and produced overflow.  IT WORKS!  In one picture, you can see where the water went over the top of the berm on the backside of the bed and flooded the next area up to the berm toward the back edge of that area, just before the walkway through the back left.  It even broke over that berm, at the left end – in the photo – and caused a little white water current!  It looks like a long stick, but it is actually tumbling water.  We had 9/10″ in 20 minutes.  So that was a bit much at one time, compared to what we normally get.  How much did you get on Cunningham Lane and Joe Collins Rd and Harrisburg?  Brian, were you driving in heavy rain again?
